MUSES project presented to Hamburg’s First Mayor Scholz
On May 15th. 2014 the State Premier & First Mayor of Hamburg Olaf Scholz visited the Department of Informatics at the University of Hamburg. Our group MOBIS was honored to be among the research groups, which were selected to present their work to him and the accompanying team of high-ranking officers and decision makers. We presented a part of our european research project MUSES and our approach to deal with the challenges of the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) trend. Our poster (in German) can be downloaded from this link. It shows our solution to distinguish automatically between private and professional usage of mobile devices by using machine learning techniques. The main application scenarios include the automatic reporting of extra working hours, the protection of users’ privacy when using corporate devices and the protection of company’s assets when using private devices. Scholz was highly interested in this topic and discussed with us possible use cases and legal implication.
At the end of the visit, the head of MOBIS Prof. Maalej handed over a voucher to Scholz which consists of gift to the State City of Hamburg for the development of an App as part of our lighthouse M-Lab projects.
